Fundraising Concert with Silent Auction For Earthquake Relief in Haiti
Jan 18 2010On Thursday, January 21st at 7pm, Emm will be participating in a Fundraising Concert for Earthquake Relief in Haiti. The concert will be held at the Aeolian Hall, 795 Dundas St., London.

When a tragedy of this magnitude strikes, it’s important to create an opportunity for the community of London to come together to show their collective support. Arts organizers from The Aeolian, Sunfest and Home County Folk Festival are collaborating to program this event. It is also being supported by The Old East Village Community Association, The Old East Village BIA and volunteers connected to the London Arts Community. This will be a ‘pay-what-you-can‘at the door event, with all proceeds going directly to Red Cross Relief efforts in Haiti. Proceeds from CD sales, silent auction items and raffles for tickets to upcoming arts events in London will also be donated. We will be issuing tickets for those who would prefer confirmed seating for a “pay what you can” donation. These are available through the Aeolian Box Office open Monday to Friday, 10 am – 6 pm. Representatives from the Red Cross will speak about how funds raised will make a difference to Haitians affected by this devastating earthquake. All musicians are donating their services. The Aeolian is donating the facility and proceeds from the bar. We are also asking for monetary and silent auction donations in advance of the concert for those who cannot attend. The goal is to raise at least $10,000.

Colleen Brown to Re-Release "Foot In Heart" with Dead Daisy/Outside on March 16, 2010
Jan 11 2010Edmonton, Alberta singer-songwriter Colleen Brown will re-release her album “Foot In Heart” with Emm Gryner’s Dead Daisy Records & Outside Music on March 16, 2010.
Recipient of the Alberta Emerging Artist Award and finalist in this year’s CBC Song Quest, multi-instrumentalist Brown has been called “a national treasure in the making – along the lines of Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot or k.d.lang.” (Sandra Sperounes of The Edmonton Journal)
Brown has steadily gained momentum since she first self-released “Foot In Heart” in 2008, with dedicated radio play on CBC, CKUA and college stations across the country and most recently placement in a CBC Radio 2 TV commercial.
Most notably, Brown’s songs have been featured in regular airplay on Rich Terfry’s Radio 2 program ‘Drive’. "[The album] sounds like some of the best music you heard on pop-radio back in the '70s...I love this album,” says Terfry.
To date, Colleen Brown – both solo, and as part of her side projects ‘The Secretaries’ and ‘The Kit Kat Club’ - has performed more than 250 shows, sharing stages with a broad range of artists including Frank Black, Gogol Bordello, Hey Rosetta, Dan Mangan, Danny Michel, The McDades, Adam Cohen and Adam Gregory.
Following a recent show where Brown supported Frank Black, SEE Magazine’s Fish Griwkowsky said, “Colleen Brown played the show of her life, opening up. There is a confidence about her new songs that’s actually scary, savaging the things we men do with a sarcastic lilt and an eager smile for the next round of battle.”

Attend a free screening of "One Week" in Ottawa June 30
Jun 26 2009As part of its Canada Day celebrations, the National Gallery of Canada (NGC) and the National Capital Commission (NCC), in collaboration with Mongrel Media and Telefilm Canada, are inviting the public to view the Canadian movie One Week free of charge on Tuesday, June 30. Emm's feature film debut a Gala Presentation at Toronto Film Fest 2008
Jul 15 2008Emm guest stars in the film "One Week" directed by Michael McGowan. In the film, Joshua Jackson portrays a young man who abandons his fiancee and job to embark on a cross-Canada road trip.
"As a filmmaker, you hope you get into the Toronto Film Festival," McGowan. "That we've been positioned as a Gala is incredible."
The 33rd Toronto International Film Festival takes place September 4-13.

May 27 2008Emm and Danny's long-awaited "Under The Covers" radio show will air every Saturday night this summer on CBC Radio One. It will air at 9pm (EST), 6pm (AT), 6:30 (NF). The show is all about cover songs and runs for 10 weeks.
