June 4: Mr. Mellow Gets Taken to The Rock Show

So often when you’re a solo artist you think only of what is going to occur for YOU. But this time, I was happy to bring Mr. Mellow (Helmet Heuer) and his wife Wiebke to the rock show.

Def Leppard and Motley Crue played Hannover last night. If you’re not aware of this, the unforgettable symbiosis of Germany and rock n roll is still alive and well, so I was curious to see the German audience give their all for the Leppard.

As I write this I am at Hannover airport with Michael and we are making our way to Spain. I am very braindead so forgive me…this part of the trip was always going to be challenging….it’s been 2 nights with substandard sleep.

We took the car from Hamburg to Hannover yesterday and it was a wonderful road trip in the sunshine. Our hotel was by a small lake so I walked around that a bit and then tried to repack my bags.

Def Leppard were planning to do a runner right after the show straight to the jet to fly to Prague. It’s amazing seeing all the black vans parked in the indoor arena, trunks open and waiting for the guys to just get right in and get whisked away. As a result, we visited backstage earlier.

Everyone is very tired from a very long run of non-stop work. It’s funny because I was exhausted when I left the UK after BBC Piano Room but they went onward to Sheffield and did a load of shows there and then started the world tour again with Motley Crue right after. So there hadn’t been a rest for them.

Joe and I celebrated the #1 on Classical / Classical Crossover and that was a lovely little moment. Wiebke, Helmut, Michael and I then ate the catering and watched a bit of Motley Crue. I still think Tommy is a great drummer. Not so sure about the dancing girls but hey, Motley Crue.

I texted Joe to say “thanks for not having dancing girl back up singers”.

The Leppard came out and rocked and everyone had a great time…Phil motioned to me (as a laugh) to come up during Hysteria. It was very funny. They were all in good friendly form and it was a beautiful night for an open air show.

We parted ways with our label head and his lovely wife…gave a little goodbye gift and boy, I will be sad to leave Germany.

By the way, do you feel like doing an astrocartography reading? Maybe you want to find out where you are meant to be. I recommend Natalie for that. Check out her site.

If I can get a little rest before Spain I will be happy. My parents are coming over on a flight which makes me a little nervous due to my dad’s age but he wouldn’t want me telling you that. (There’s a reason why I told my family “do not join my Backstage community!”) I need to be able to tell all. :) But I learned recently that my bestie Liese and her husband are on the same flight (both paramedics) so….my stress level dropped a little bit. I dunno. Travel is different for me now even at 47. I like less of it, but I enjoy the destinations. I wonder how all of you feel about travel. In a recent survey I asked what you wished you had more of and most of you said - time with family or travel or both.

Anyway, without further ado here are some more photos from the latest extravaganza:

So proud of these guys…for the hard work, clean living and beautiful attitudes….oh the music is OK too.

Love you all. Please send the sleep fairies so I can rest before the show in Lleida.

XOXO Emm
