DIARY: OCT 5 Firsts

Travel before the virus was kind of a pain at times and now it really is a pain, but the swabs, the double-masking, the sanitizing, the listening to rules and regs repeatedly were all worth it for the trip to Provincetown and Boston. Thanking my longtime fan Michael Colford who practically designed the trip, sending us to the most beautiful, vibrant corner of America - a place I’d never before been. A lot of firsts - first book event, first performance at a book event…first time traveling in a couple years…I felt grateful so grateful for all of it.

Jen Vesp came to photograph the Boston talk - her photos are at the end of this video I made for all of you.

I had a little moment when I was getting ready for the Boston Public Library talk and “Home Sweet Home” came on the hotel radio. It was that song, 30+ years ago that I adapted for a high school play…and Adrienne Blair said to me, “You have a really nice voice”. One phrase. One girl. One moment. She gave me the fuel. And then I couldn’t help but laugh when the “my heart’s like an open book / for the whole world to read” line came up. The universe loves hair metal, I’m sure of it. Sending love to all of you.
