Recording of our last Zang and some Spring advice
Hello beautiful friends,
If you missed our last Zang, the recording is HERE (UPDATED!!! — April 20)
We had our first Benahart rehearsal this past weekend. It was interesting singing the songs in our set, it showed me how much I haven’t been stretching my voice in my writing and how much I can.
Here’s a little snapshot of the songs we are learning
The Final Countdown - Europe
Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
No One Like You - Scorpions
Mandinka - Sinead
Running Up that Hill (maybe????) - Kate Bush
Don’t You Forget About Me - Simple Minds
If I Could Turn Back Time - Cher
Eye of The Tiger - Survivor
Hold The Line - Toto
Many people think learning covers is an act of mediocrity. I think by getting inside people’s songs gives a huge learning experience for a songwriter. As someone who has sung for a long time, but I believe has only cleared the path to becoming proficient since giving up drinking, it fascinates me that there is still room to grow, still notes to reach, still breath to uncover.
Breath is fascinating. If I think about life and all the things that are joyful and energetic, they involve expanding our capacity to breath. If you feel that you are in a funk, find a way to expand your breath capacity.
Singing, exercise, dance, walking, yoga.
There’ll be more updates soon…know that I love you all.
